AFRICOM Increases Strikes on Al-Shabaab Amid US Troop Pullout

As US troops withdraw from Somalia, the frequency of AFRICOM airstrikes against Al-Shabaab targets has notably escalated. January 2021 saw six airstrikes conducted, aimed at diminishing terrorist influence and activity in the region. This surge in airstrikes highlights the strategic shift in US military tactics as it maintains pressure on extremist groups while adjusting its presence in the region.
